What is Island Elite Sports?

How do i register? 

When is the registration deadline?

The Island Elite Sports Flag Football League "IES" is a non-contact youth & adults flag football program. This is a recreational league, so there are no tryouts or cuts. No previous experience is necessary. 

All of our registration is taken online through the Zorts Sports app. Please click the "Program List" tab and select the division you wish to sign up for. It will take you to the Zorts Sports app where you can sign up as an individual or team. 

Spring Season: Registration typically begins on January 1st and continues until February 28th. You have 2 months to register.
Fall Season: Registration begins on June 1st and continues until August 1st. You have 2 months to register. 
There is a $25 late registration fee, and it will only be accepted if there is available space.

FOR THAT REASON WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO REGISTER EARLY TO ENSURE YOUR CHILD IS PLACED ON A TEAM! 

When does the season begin?

Spring Season: Typically begins the first or second week of March. 
Fall Season: Typically begins the first week after Labor Day. 
Both spring and fall seasons last approximately 10 weeks.

Where are the games played?

We have several locations on Staten Island that we use. The exact location of the games will vary from week to week and from season to season, but games are always played on turf or well manicured grass fields. 

What days are the games?

Most games are played on weeknights between 4PM-9PM. Occasionally, there may be Saturday or Sunday games. Each team plays 1-2 40-minute games per week for a total of 6 regular season games. All teams qualify for the playoffs and those will typically be held on the same weeknights or weekends as the regular season games. 

Who can play?

This league is open to boys and girls 5th grade to high school, and women's 18+. 

How much does it cost to play?

The cost per player is $225 for the season, which includes a FREE jersey and flag belt (for new players).  We offer multi-player discounts as well, and coaches kids play for free. New registrations include a jersey and flag belt that each player keeps. 

What do I get for my registration fee?

Registration includes a full season, including 6 games, playoffs & championships, social media & photos/videos, a FREE team jersey & flags/flag belt (for new registrants). It also includes use of well groomed fields, certified officials, interactive website, organized administration, and a lot of FUN for you and your child!

What is the cancellation policy?

Registration fees will be refunded in full, less a $25 administrative fee per player, for cancellation requests received prior to the date registration closes. There will be no refunds for cancellation requests received after registration closes. NO EXCEPTIONS. 

What are the rules?

This league is 5-on-5 and uses the Island Elite Sports rules (modified SHS rules), the same rule set used at the Youth World Championships at Disney, and at the AAU Junior Olympics. 

Does the league supply uniforms?

Every athlete in our program will receive a team jersey and IES flag football belt w/ flags to keep with their first registration. You only need to get a mouthpiece and we recommend cleats.

What equipment does the league supply?

All participants will receive an official jersey and one full flag belt set with their first registration. 

What equipment is mandatory?

It is mandatory that all players are wearing an official IES jersey, IES official flags & flag belt, and have a mouthpiece before stepping on the field. NO PLAYER shall be allowed to play without these items.

How are individuals placed on teams?

This is a league designed to keep ages/grades playing together. We do allow for special requests, such as if there is a coach your child has played for that would like to play for them again or to keep friends together. However, special request are NOT guaranteed, and NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN IF WE CANNOT MEET THE REQUEST. Also, please keep in mind that to keep balance in our teams, requests may not be accommodated if the team is heavy on an age/grade level. 

After requests are processed, individuals are p[laced on teams determined by age and ability factors. Our goal is for each division to have at least 4 flag football teams. 

Divisions will be as follows:

Boys (5th/6th grade)
Girls (5th/6th grade)
Boys (7th/8th grade)
Girls (7th/8th grade)
High School Boys
High School Girls
Women's (18+, cannot be in High School) 

Do you accept team registrations?

Yes, we accept registrations as a team. Coaches may sign up as a team via the Zorts Sports app, or contact one of our directors at admin@islandelitesports.com to reserve a team spot. 

How many players per team?

Teams are allowed to roster a minimum of 5 players and a maximum of 12 players per team. 

Do you accept buddy requests?

Yes, we encourage kids to play on a team with their friends, and ask that parents identify buddy requests on registration forms. We will do our best to accommodate buddy requests, but the ultimate goal is to ensure balance among all teams. For this reason, buddy requests are limited to 3 per team, and are NOT guaranteed. 

Can my child be placed with a specific coach or team?

Yes, we encourage kids to play on a team with their friends and ask that parents identify coach requests on registration forms. We will do our best to accommodate coach requests, but the ultimate goal is to ensure balance among all teams. For this reason, we limit team/coach requests to 3, and they are NOT guaranteed.

How do I select my jersey?

There are 12 jersey options to choose from, a director will reach out to you to let you know what jerseys are available. Returning teams will have the opportunity to to retain their jersey options, and new teams will select from the available options left. 

How many teams can a division have?

At this time, we are limiting our divisions to a maximum of 6 teams per division. We reserve the right to increase the size of the divisions based on demand. There will be a waiting-list from which we will pull teams should we decide to expand a division size.
